Accompanied by an excellent esearch file that notes Thaddeus W. Hunter enlisted as a Private on 3/2/64 into Company B of the 143rd Pennsylvania Infantry. He mustered out on 6/12/65. He was wounded in action at Petersburg and the 143rd PA was heavily engaged on the first day at Gettysburg and throughout the remainder of the war in the Virginia battles.
