M42 Army Single Decal With Remains Of Snow Camo Finish
M42 Heer with the remnants of whitewash paint. This is an HKP shell and they were issued with a very heavy textured paint from the factory, so the white has settled into it and would have been rather difficult to remove. The red residue on the liner is rust, The liner pins are original though loose with whitewash paint as well. The oddity is that the leather liner is backwards!  But it is fitted this way, original with the holes correctly aligned. Those wiser than I on helmets confirm that the decal is in the correct lot number range for this helmet as well.
