MOLLUS Medal to NY Surgeon
Mollus to Surgeon Dr William Frothingham 44th NY.

Excellent condition medal on original drape with the color having bled togather, moisture? Jump loop is numbered 1838 which traces to Frothingham and a second number of descendant.
Born in New York in 1832, he died in Manhattan 1885 when he accidently shot himself cleaning a revolver. Frothingham served 12 Oct 1861 – 22 Nov 1862. He saw much action with 44th NY early in the war at Yorktown, Hanover Court House, Gaines’ Mill, Malvern Hill, 2nd Bull Run and Antietam. He was noted in reports for his conduct in battle.
