Silver Star Ciation

Sergeant TREFFLE MOREL (31369976) Infantry United States Army. Silver Star Posthumously awarded For gallantry in action against the enemy on Luzon, Philippine Islands, on [9 June 1945]. Sergeant Morel did conduct himself in a manner above and beyond the call of his duty. During a driving rain-storm, the enemy opened up on his battalion with withering cross fire from heavy machine guns. t appeared that an attack would be made on the positions and the battalion's position overrun because of the heavy volume of enemy fire. Disregarding his own personal safety, Sergeant Morel left the safety of his position and ran to his machine gun position to draw the enemy fire. ... firing on enemy positions, enemy fire was silenced and the attack thwarted. During ------ positions, Sergeant Morel suffered wounds from which he later died.
RIP Sergeant.
