Civil War Carbine Cavalry Cartridge box
Leather pouch for carbine cartridges, complete with wooden insert having holes drilled for individual cartridges. The leather is solid and without cracking, the box displays well but is stiff. There are four small holes, no shadows, where a state or unit badge was pinned on for a short period of time. All straps, tabs, and buckles present and workable. When you raise the outer flap, there is another leather flap covering the wooden block, impressed with the maker “E. GAYLORD / CHICOPEE / MASS.”. Under that flap is the implement pouch which would hold some of the tools to service the carbine.
